It is actually not impossible to build a contemporary house with natural greenery surroundings, even though you nearly have no space for a yard. This Courtyard House designed by Formwerkz Architects will show you how possible it is. Located in Singapore, this project offers you a two-leveled house built in not too wide lot but it still maintains the refreshing greenery by maximizing small lot available. Seen from outside, this house combines the neutral tones commonly found in any modern design: black, white, and natural tone such as the walnut and wooden one.
The exterior shows no excessive or grand detail. Yet, the minimalist detail of this gorgeous contemporary house becomes the added value of this dwelling as well. The ground floor of this private dwelling offers the continuous transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The rooms located below, such as the living, family, dining, and laundry room are designed as the open spaces, having unified look with the courtyard and the greenery on the garden. The courtyard itself becomes the center point of the ground floor; located between the living room and the rest of the rooms on this level. The minimalist detail of this space offers the refreshing turquoise of the swimming pool and the carefully placed frangipani tree. To access the upper level, the modern spiral staircase wrapped in dark wooden tone is used.
The upper level is consisted of more private spaces such as the master bedroom, kid’s bedroom, study space, library, and guest’s bedroom. The privacy is offered from the use of frosted glass windows or sliding doors. The porch is covered in dark wooden tone as for the floors and risers, as well as the trims on the windows and doors. Wooden blinds in unique style are also used for privacy, made of wooden long sticks with enough space in between to allow the lights coming inside the room.
Small spaces available in this residence are used as green area, where the greeneries are placed. The gorgeous contemporary house design for this space includes the use of wooden material, such as the floors for the space on upper level. The tone will blend perfectly with the lush green, creating a harmony look for the space as a whole. A patio is also available in minimalist detail, yet made of shingles for the floors and the bench. This spot is quite wide, making this one is also proper when you are having a party on the house.
